Welcome to Recall ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you understand how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account using Apple Sign-In, we collect:

• Apple ID Identifier: A unique, anonymous identifier provided by Apple to identify your account
• Email Address: If you choose to share it during Apple Sign-In (optional)
• Name: If you choose to share it during Apple Sign-In (optional)

We do not have access to your Apple ID password or other Apple account credentials.

1.2 Notion Integration Data

When you connect your Notion workspace, we access:

• Notion Pages and Databases: Only the content you explicitly select for flashcard generation
• Workspace Information: Your workspace name and ID for display purposes

We use official Notion OAuth authentication. Your Notion credentials are never stored on our servers. We only store an access token that allows us to read the pages you've shared with us.

1.3 Study Data

We collect information about your learning progress:

• Flashcards you create and review
• Study session history and performance
• Streak and statistics data
• Spaced repetition scheduling information

1.4 Device Information

We may collect:

• Device type and operating system version
• Push notification tokens (if you enable notifications)

1.5 Payments and Purchases

Recall is a completely free application. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paid features of any kind. No payment or financial information is collected.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the Recall application
• Generate flashcards from your Notion content using AI
• Track your study progress and schedule reviews using spaced repetition
• Send push notifications about study reminders and card generation (if enabled)
• Improve our services and user experience

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices:

• All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
• Database access is restricted and protected
• We use secure authentication tokens that expire automatically

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to provide our application:

• Notion API: To access your Notion content with your permission.
• Apple Services: For authentication via Apple Sign-In.

4.1 AI-Powered Flashcard Generation

When you choose to generate flashcards, the text content from the Notion pages you have explicitly selected is sent to a third-party AI service (Venice.ai) for processing. This is the only data sent to the AI service.

What is sent to the AI service:

• The text content of the Notion pages you select for flashcard generation

What is NOT sent to the AI service:

• Your name, email address, or Apple ID
• Your account information or user identifiers
• Your study progress, statistics, or any other personal data
• Any Notion content you have not explicitly selected for flashcard generation

Venice.ai is a privacy-first AI platform that ensures:

• Anonymization: Your content is processed anonymously — no user identifiers are attached to API requests.
• No Storage: Your content is not stored after processing. Once flashcards are generated, the original content is discarded by the AI service.
• No Training: Your data is not used to train their AI models.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data only:

• With your explicit consent
• To comply with legal obligations
• To protect our rights and prevent fraud

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Disconnect: Revoke Notion access at any time through the app or Notion settings
• Opt-out: Disable push notifications through your device settings

7. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

• All your personal data, including themes, flashcards, study progress, and account information, is permanently deleted immediately
• Your Sign in with Apple connection is revoked, fully disconnecting the app from your Apple ID
• Your Notion access token is deleted, removing the connection to your Notion workspace

8. Children's Privacy

Recall is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
